About Kitten Insurance: Protecting Your Furry Friends with Care
Our goal is to make your journey with your four legged BFF as stress free as possible. Our roots as a company are actually in human healthcare. In fact, our company is founded by individuals that understand deeply that if someone’s Kitten is having health issues - it’s going to impact the pet parent too. So keeping pooches at peak health, and making that as affordable as possible for ALL PET PARENTS is our core mission and business model. Happy healthy pets = happier healthier humans. It’s really that simple.
Our human healthcare background gives us a significant competitive advantage. Why is that? Simply put it’s in the best interest of human health insurance carriers and large and small businesses for their employees or customers to not be stressed out over their pets health and well being. It’s been scientifically proven that people that have pets are more often healthier than people that do not.
In regard to how we make money as a company, our company is paid to help connect pet parents with the right pet insurance plan. Does this create a conflict of interest? No it does not. Our belief is it does not because unlike a lot of other companies - we do not create ratings systems and publish reviews. We do not believe that it is really possible to create a "general review or rating" of a pet insurance company because in reality certain carriers are not actually a match for every pet and pet parent.
To be blunt, some insurance carriers are simply put, much better at operating as a pet insurance carrier than others. There will always be companies that we choose not to do business with because we ultimately don’t believe that they’re actually focused on pets and pet parents.
That said our company provides pet parents with information regarding all available options, including companies that we have no direct relationship with. After learning about the pet parent, their budget and goals - and learning about the Kitten that’s joined the family - only then is it possible for us to present information on the options we sincerely believe make the most sense.
Because our primary business model is not reliant on selling advertising to every pet insurance carrier, it gives us the freedom to be incredibly focused on ensuring that you and your Kitten are matched up with the right company that’s going to deliver the best results for the maximum value possible.
Sometimes this means we may recommend a wellness plan from one company and an insurance policy from another carrier. There is no one size fits all one approach solution that works in human healthcare - so why would it be any different for your Kitten?
Is Pet Insurance Necessary For A Kitten?
Unfortunately, the answer is a resounding yes. There are a number of reasons why, but ultimately we feel that the following helps explain the current scenario pet parents are facing in 2024. Healthcare costs are increasing everywhere but the pet sector is experiencing some of the highest increases. The cost of the medications and essentially everything a vet needs to treat your pet is increasing at a higher rate than for humans. First time pet parents are experiencing sticker shock at the vets office regardless if a vet visit is routine or an emergency. Without having financial protection in place to help defer unexpected costs (insurance) or reduce costs associated with regular routine care (wellness) pet parents can find themselves unsure of how to pay for it.
Some of our founders have been the pet parent that’s at the vet for an emergency surgery for a young Kitten.
Some of us thought "if my cat needed cancer treatment ultimately I’d just put the cat down".
Only to find themselves trying to figure out a way to split up a $9,000 vet bill amongst credit cards, because you’re not ready to give up or say goodbye. This is the kind of stress that our company wants to help humans, pet parents, avoid. There’s real scientific data that proves that helping people, regular every day people, avoid these scenarios - is going to improve their health outcomes.
Sure we could use scare tactics like the stats about rising cancer rates in all cat breeds, even puppies, but a much more common scenario is one where a Kitten chews or eats something it shouldn’t and the next thing you know you’re looking at a $2,200 vet bill for x-rays, stomach pump and blood work. If surgery is required, it’s more like $5,000.
Here’s two other really significant reasons it is imperative to sign up for pet insurance right away.
Carriers don’t have to cover pre-existing conditions in most instances, unless you purchased your policy before any health issues develop or an accident happens.
Insurance carriers prefer to have as long of a relationship as possible. So pet insurance policies for puppies are priced accordingly. Kitten Rates are a real thing, and getting into a policy with an excellent carrier right from the start is the best path to ensure that you’re covered and not having to cover all of the unexpected expenses regardless if they’re "manageable" or more than someone spends on a first car.
At KittenInsurance.com, our recommendations are based solely on what you tell us. We are committed to providing transparent, honest guidance to help you make the best decision for you and your pups specific needs.
